3 Types of Insurance You Can't Afford to Go Without

Whether you get your health insurance through your employer or you have your own private policy, chances are that it doesn't cover everything you need. That's why you absolutely can't afford to go without these 3 types of insurance:

1. Medicare supplemental insurance

Think that basic Medicare coverage will take care of all your medical bills? Think again! Take a closer look at your basic Medicare coverage, and you'll see that plenty of things are excluded - like medical coverage when you're travelling abroad, lengthy hospital visits, and even some in-home care. If you're not careful, any one of those exclusions could become an awfully large out-of-pocket expense!

That's why getting Medicare supplemental insurance is so important. True to its name, Medicare supplemental insurance fills in the gaps for you. Instead of having to pay things out of your own pocket, your supplemental policy will kick in when basic Medicare doesn't cover you. That way, you won't have to live in fear that you're going to bankrupt yourself if a major illness strikes!

2. Individual dental insurance

Think that you don't need dental coverage because you don't have any major dental problems? It's not quite that easy! Even routine dental procedures - like cleanings and x-rays - can cost you hundreds of dollars. Do you have a few hundred dollars sitting around to pay for routine dental work? Probably not!

Luckily, individual dental insurance is an affordable way to take off some of the financial pressure. In fact, you can get dental insurance for as little as a few dollars a month. Then, when you need to visit your dentist, you can rest easy knowing that it's not costing you an arm and a leg.

Plus, an individual dental insurance policy will cover big stuff, too - like root canals and emergency services. After all, you never know when disaster is going to strike. You don't want to have to wander around with a chipped tooth or a loose filling just because you can't afford to go to the dentist!

3. Vision insurance

Let's face it - glasses and contacts are expensive. If you don't have vision insurance, you're going to have to foot all of those bills by yourself. And, it's not like you can skip a trip to the eye doctor. After all, you need to be able to see!

Like dental insurance, vision insurance is incredibly affordable. If you've got a few dollars to spare every month, you can afford it. And, if you shop around, you can even find great deals on insurance policies that bundle dental coverage and vision insurance!
